Leonardo da Vinci.

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (April 15, 1452 - May 2, 1519) was an Italian Renaissance polymath: an architect, anatomist, sculptor, engineer, inventor, geometer, musician, futurist, painter, and astrologist.

To give Leonardo da Vinci an evaluation as a scientist is impossible: too many of his documents were lost, and those that still exist are in such disorder that is very hard to track the evolution of his ideas. Some of Leonardo da Vinci's notes have been later systematized by other scientists but without a designation of where are the beginnings and ends of his thoughts. The problem becomes even more complicated because in a lot of documents Leonardo da Vinci used special codes.

It is known that Leonardo da Vinci used to borrow many ideas from his unknown contemporaries. Besides, only very few of the materials we have tell us from whom or from what source these ideas have been taken. Nevertheless some conclusions can be made. First of all, there is no doubt that Leonardo da Vinci is a titan of science as his most enthusiastic admirers have proclaimed.

By the way, one of his modern admirers found a line in an original Leonardo da Vinci manuscript that anticipated the opening made by Copernicus approximately fifteen years later, and more than a century before. However the claim that the Sun does not move around the Earth actually doesn't prove that Leonardo da Vinci was a revolutionary in astrological science and that he rejected the centuries of ideas about the geocentric Universe. Similar statements had been made in the 3rd century by Aristarch Samosskim, and probably, Leonardo da Vinci, Copernicus, and Galileo were familiar with the works of this well-known scientist.

We would probably need to write dozens of pages to just briefly tell you about all of Leonardo da Vinci's thoughts and beliefs. However it is necessary to mention some of them. He agreed with Pythagoras' astrological idea that the earth has a spherical form and consists of four elements: the soil, air, fire, and water, and also that the harmony and proportions are defined by numbers.

Leonardo da Vinci is a master of astrology. He understood that astrology directs all of the arts and helps to develop them. Astrology operates with all parts of mathematics and others infallible sciences. If somebody had told Leonardo da Vinci that we can't trust the evidence of our senses, he would call such a person either a fool, or a fraud.
