A Famous Name In Astrology:

Ptolemy.

Ptolemy (II century AD.) - One of the founders of astronomy and astrology. There is no point in repeating all of his numerous works in astrology – we can find them in many magazines. Ptolemy is the author of the first full astrology manual. In that book he tried to explain in detail the astrological principles from the point of view of the science of that time. Ptolemy again and again repeated the research of movements of the Sun, Moon, and other planets of the Solar system and formulated his own geocentric theory which now is known as the Ptolemy models of the structure of the solar system. In his first book Ptolemy describes in detail the geocentric system and tries to prove by means of various arguments that in the center of the Universe must be the static Earth. It is necessary to note his consecutive proof that in the case of movement of the Earth, as it was assumed before by some of the Greek philosophers, eventually in the starry sky we will see some phenomena, like the parallaxes of the stars.

On the other hand, Ptolemy proved that all subjects fall into the center of the Universe; the Earth should be located there because of the direction of the freely falling drops of water. Furthermore, if the Earth is not in the center then it should rotate with the period of the 24 o'clock and as a result of that the subjects thrown vertically up should not fall on the same place as it takes place in practice.

Ptolemy proved that then and no discoveries have been made to these arguments. As a result the geocentric system became the absolute true theory for the western Christian world up to the 15-th century when it had been outdated by the heliocentric system developed by the great Polish astronomer Nikolay Kopernik. Ptolemy had established the following order for the objects of Solar system: the Earth (center), the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
